Enamelling offers endless creative opportunities, so for me scaling up from designing jewellery to developing larger pieces of work for the wall was inevitable.
The process starts with a design idea, a blank copper panel and an array of enamel colours. I mix the enamel to create the colours I want, and then apply in multiple layers and fuse with heat to build up the design. I use both free hand application, and hand cut templates to create shapes, lines and forms, and often incorporate raw pigment to add extra depth and texture. |
